Sixteen-room hotel could be built at closed Woolwich pub

A developer is making a second attempt to build a hotel around a closed pub in Woolwich.

The Lord Raglan on Burrage Road, which served its last beer in 2022, would be given an extension as part of the plans for a 16-room aparthotel, while a house next door would be reconfigured for staff accommodation and a manager’s flat.

Plans for an 18-room aparthotel were first published in March, but Greenwich Council planners rejected them on the grounds that the extension was over-dominant and of poor design, and had too much of an impact on neighbours.

The developer – Raglan Woolwich Ltd, a Sidcup-based company – says it has addressed these concerns by altering the design and cutting the number of rooms by two.

It says a pub would remain along with a new garden. A lease for the pub is on the market. A previous two-floor extension to provide four staff bedrooms, from the same developer, was approved in September last year.
