The electronic duo Overmono are the first act to be confirmed for the Labyrinth on the Thames music festival when it returns to the Old Royal Naval College for the first three weekends in August.

Overmono – brothers Tom and Ed Russell – have played at Glastonbury and All Points East as well as a sold-out show at Alexandra Palace in November, and will play their only London show this year in Greenwich on Friday August 7.

The festival was given a licence nine weeks ago, and there are plans for eight concerts across the three weekends this year, with nine from next year.

Residents living within half a mile of the festival site can apply for discounted tickets, while people living on the perimeter of the festival can get free tickets by contacting the festival organisers.

The Grammy-winning DJ Black Coffee and the Australian band Empire of the Sun were among the headliners, and councillors were promised a “legendary English artist” when Labyrinth applied for its licence.

Pre-sale tickets for the Overmono show will go on sale at 10am on January 28. The duo have picked the other acts who will appear on the bill on the day of their show.

Kate Miners, the director of public engagement at the Old Royal Naval College, said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing Labyrinth on the Thames back to our iconic riverside setting this summer.

“Together, we’ll be transforming our Unesco world heritage site into a vibrant, culturally rich destination, welcoming trailblazing electronic acts to the stage and leading the charge in reimagining what a heritage site can be, as we celebrate 300 years of the Painted Hall.

“As a charity, events like this play a vital role in supporting our mission: to conserve these magnificent buildings and to educate and welcome new audiences for years to come.”

Nick Castleman, Labyrinth Events’ co-founder, said: “Labyrinth on the Thames was born from a desire to work in true partnership with the Old Royal Naval College, as we strive to reimagine this extraordinary space for new and future audiences. We[re incredibly excited to return to the venue this summer.”
