North Greenwich station, Charlton and Queen Elizabeth Hospital will be linked by bus 24 hours a day, seven days a week from tonight, with all-night buses being introduced on route 486.

Buses will now run between Bexleyheath town centre and North Greenwich seven nights a week, providing the hospital on Woolwich Common with its first all-week night bus service, also serving Welling and Shooters Hill.

A weekend night service had been running on the 486 before the pandemic to serve Night Tube users at North Greenwich, but that service was halted in March 2020. The Night Tube returned in June last year.

Buses will run every half an hour during the night, with no change to daytime services.

The 486 will be the first all-week night service to serve Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and is part of a plan set out six years ago by London mayor Sadiq Khan to improve bus links to the capital’s hospitals.

Details of bus times can be found in the TfL journey planner.
