The walk-in centre will use a car park on Abery Street, Plumstead

Greenwich borough is to get its second walk-in coronavirus test centre next week when one opens on on a temporary car park off Plumstead High Street.

The news was confirmed by council leader Danny Thorpe in a council newsletter. Plans for the facility, on the Abery Street car park, follow the opening of the borough’s first walk-in centre, at the University of Greenwich campus off Avery Hill, last week.

Two other facilities are aimed at those who can drive – one in a car park at the O2 arena on the Greenwich Peninsula and a mobile facility at The Valley in Charlton.

Outside Greenwich borough, other walk-in test centres have opened at Vanguard Street in Deptford and at Erith Road in Bexleyheath, with a drive-in mobile centre visiting Catford lorry park, behind Lewisham Council’s offices.

All tests must be booked in advance at or by calling 119.
