The trial of a Greenwich councillor on charges of fraud and perverting the course of justice will now take place in February 2020, Inner London Crown Court heard today.
Tonia Ashikodi, 30, the councillor for Glyndon ward, is charged with two counts of fraud by misrepresentation in applications to Greenwich Council for housing in October 2008 and May 2012. She is also charged with perverting the course of justice in May 2018.
Her father, Tony Ashikodi, 50, is charged with perverting the course of justice at the same time. Both defendants were in court. They have already pleaded not guilty to all charges at a previous hearing.
The trial had been due to begin today, after initially being postponed from April, and having been switched from Blackfriars Crown Court. After pre-trial discussions, Judge Silas Reid set a trial date of 3 February 2020.
The judge extended both defendants’ unconditional bail until the trial date.
