A message from the 853 commercial department…
It’s wonderful to have so many people supporting 853 – it makes a huge difference and enables it to have one part-time reporter/editor (that’s me, Darryl) to ferret out the kind of stories the traditional local press gave up on years ago. And through the new community interest company, Flyover Media, I’m hoping to get more people involved in the site and on new projects to tell south-east London’s stories.
If you’d like to become a monthly supporter, then please visit the site’s Patreon page at www.patreon.com/853. The site can’t continue without this support.
This week, you can help support 853 and get a little something back in return – £75, in fact. If you switch your energy to Bulb with this link, you’ll get a £75 referral fee and so does the site.
Why switch to Bulb? “Bulb is the UK’s biggest green energy supplier. We provide all our members with 100% renewable electricity. For every unit you use, we make sure a unit is produced and put on the grid by a renewable source including solar, wind and hydro. Plus, our gas is 100% carbon neutral. 10% is green gas produced from renewable sources like food or farm waste. And we offset the rest of the gas we supply by supporting carbon reduction projects around the world.”
It’s also competitive with other deals out there – you may well find it’s less than what you’re paying for your power now. Bulb will also refund your exit fees. And… “for every switch to Bulb, we donate £1 to Edible Playgrounds by Trees for Cities, a charity transforming areas in inner-city schools into vibrant outdoor spaces that teach children about growing and eating healthy food.”
Plus you’ll be helping 853 – especially with a big month ahead where the site will become a full-time job for a short while to cover a court case. Speaking of big stories, there should be a couple coming along this week after a quiet period.
So if you’d like to help, then please switch to Bulb via this link before Tuesday 21 May. (You can switch afterwards, but you’ll only get the normal £50.) Thank you.
