Transport for London has warned that there will be no Docklands Light Railway service for two days next week, while the Tube faces almost a week of disruption because of two separate RMT strikes.
There will be no DLR service on Tuesday and Thursday next week as staff walk out in a dispute over pay and conditions with the network’s operator, KeolisAmey Docklands.
A rolling series of strikes among Tube workers will begin this Friday, but are not expected to have an impact until Sunday, when limited services are expected with last trains running much earlier than usual. Passengers have been advised not to travel after 6pm.
Sunday’s disruption will affect access to the start of The Big Half half-marathon, which begins at Tower Bridge and finishes at Cutty Sark Gardens.
Little or no Tube service is expected between Monday 8 and Thursday 11 September. Trains are likely to restart from 8am on Friday and build up to a normal service later in the morning. The strike will affect the National Television Awards, due to take place at the O2 on Wednesday September 10.
Elizabeth Line and London Overground services will run as normal, as will the Croydon tram network.
A third dispute will take some buses in west London off the road between September 11-14, but apart from one exception – the 148 between Camberwell and White City – the strike at First Bus will not affect southeast London.
On the Tube, the RMT said it was striking over pay and working conditions, and for a 32-hour weeking week. Staff currently work a 35-hour week.
TfL said it was disappointed about the strike action and had offered a higher pay deal for staff since they were balloted for a strike. If the strikes go ahead, TfL advises passengers to plan their journeys correctly and consider walking or cycling where possible.
• There will be more disruption for visitors to The Big Half with a reduced Thameslink service through Greenwich on Sunday and no service through central London because of engineering works. Southeastern will partly fill the gap by running some extra trains between Greenwich, Deptford and London Bridge during the early afternoon.
