A new bowling alley in Greenwich town centre has been named one of the best in the world at a leading awards ceremony, less than five months after it opened.
Vintners Lanes, behind Davy’s Wine Lodge and next to Greenwich station, was one of the seven worldwide winners at the Bowling Centre Architecture and Design Awards in Texas, taking home a prize for its interior design.
The boutique alley, which styles itself as “bowling, but better”, opened in November in what was the Lovibond brewery. The Victorian building was spruced up by DesignLSM with period furniture and artworks as well as vintage bowling memorabilia.
Mark Carrick, Davy’s chief financial officer, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be recognised on an international stage amongst such stiff competition.
“It’s an amazing accolade and we’re excited for visitors to come and see for themselves what all the fuss is about.
“A huge thank you to the project team for expertly interpreting our vision and transforming it into reality – this achievement wouldn’t have been possible without their dedication and expertise.”
The venue is open from 10am to midnight Sundays to Thursdays, and until 1am on Fridays. To book, visit vintnerslanes.co.uk.
