Over-40s from anywhere in SE London who have not yet had a coronavirus vaccine can attend pop-up clinics at Guy’s Hospital and St Thomas’ Hospital until the end of this month.
The daily clinics remain open after a weekend which saw temporary mass vaccination centres open across London, including at Charlton Athletic’s stadium, The Valley.
With vaccines now open to all adults, health chiefs are keen to make sure those who have missed out on jabs the first time around can get one and increase the chance of the final lockdown measures being lifted on July 19.
A daily walk-in clinic open to all over-40s in SE London is open at the Burfoot Court Room at Guy’s Hospital, next to London Bridge station, from 8am to 7pm until the end of the month. Residents from any borough are welcome, with the AstraZeneca jab available. Second jabs are available if more than eight weeks have passed since the first one.
St Thomas’ Hospital, close to Waterloo station, is operating an identical service, also from 8am to 7pm daily.
A third walk-in clinic for all SE Londoners over 40 is open at Lewisham Hospital on Friday from 8am to 4pm. The clinic will be open on Tuesdays and Fridays until the end of July.
For Greenwich borough residents over 40, the Woolwich Late Night Pharmacy is offering a walk-in clinic from 8am to 2pm daily until 25 July.
On Saturday, another walk-in clinic for over-40s will take place at the Freedom Church Arena, off White Hart Road in Plumstead, from 1.30pm to 4pm.
Details of pop-up vaccination clinics across Greenwich, Lewisham, Bexley, Bromley, Southwark and Lambeth are listed on the NHS SE London website.
While 81.6 per cent of UK adults have had one jab, and 59.5 per cent have had two, London has lagged behind, in part due to its younger population.
In Greenwich, 61.4 per cent of adults have had one jab, with 40.2 having had two. In Lewisham, the figures are 57.3 per cent and 35.3 per cent; in Bexley, the rates stand at 73.6 per cent and 53 per cent.
Public Health England figures show that Covid-19 is spreading again in local communities. In Greenwich, there are 59 cases per 100,000 people, with 67 cases in Lewisham and 41.1 in Bexley. The worst-hit London borough is Lambeth, with 128.2 cases per 100,000 people.
